Getting here

By Car

From Sheffield:

  • Take the A625 towards Buxton.
  • Continue on the A625 until you see signs for Great Hucklow.
  • Turn off onto the B6049, which leads directly to the village.

From Manchester:

  • Take the A6 towards Buxton.
  • Follow the A6 through Buxton and continue towards Bakewell.
  • Turn left onto the A623 towards Chesterfield.
  • After a few miles, turn right onto the B6049, which will take you to Great Hucklow.

From the North of England:

  • Use major motorways like the M6 or M1 to reach either Sheffield or Manchester.
  • Follow the directions from either Sheffield or Manchester as described above.

From the South of England:

  • Use major motorways like the M1 or M6 to reach a major city like Derby or Nottingham.
  • From there, follow signs for the Peak District National Park.
  • Use the A6 or A623 to approach Great Hucklow, then turn onto the B6049.

Important Notes:

  • Sat Nav: Use postcode SK17 8RH for accurate directions to the center of Great Hucklow.
  • Parking: The car park is accessed from the entrance opposite The Old Unitarian Chapel

By Train

Hope Valley Line:

  • Manchester to Sheffield: This line has stations at several Peak District villages, including:
    • Grindleford: On the Stagecoach 65 Meadowhall to Buxton bus route
    • Hope or Bamford: About 5miles, pre-book a taxi:

Buxton Line:

  • Manchester to Buxton: Buxton is a larger town with more frequent transport connections. From there, you can:
    • Take a bus to Great Hucklow, see below.
    • Get a taxi (more readily available than from smaller stations).

By Bus

  • Stagecoach service 65 and 65A provide a service between Buxton - Tideswell - Great Hucklow - Gridleford (Hope Valley Line) - Sheffield
